Frequently Asked Questions
What does organic skin care mean?
The term 'organic' relates to how the product is grown, farmed and prepared for sale. Natural skin care products that fall under the organic banner contain no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, GMOs or other growth enhancing, unnatural additives.
What is the difference between organic and natural skin care?
In general terms, natural skin care products can contain chemicals while organic skin care products cannot (well, almost). Organic products are required to be at least 95% chemical free, whereas natural products, even if made with organic ingredients, need only be 50-75% chemical free.
Are your products child safe?
Our products are formulated with the finest organic and natural ingredients. Being toxic free, chemical and pesticide free and allergy certified, they are much safer to use than synthetic formulations. Having said that and regardless of age, a skin patch test should always be conducted before using any OmMade Organic Skincare product.
How do I do a skin patch test?
At OmMade Organic Skincare, we recommend an initial patch test when using our organic and natural skin care range for the first time. The best place to perform the patch test is just behind the ear or just under the jawline. Take a small amount of product, about the size of a pea and apply to the area as per the product instructions. Wait 24 hours to see if any irritation occurs. If there is an immediate irritation, please remove the product gently with tepid water.
Are OmMade's organic and natural skin care products vegan?
OmMade's vegan range of products are scientifically formulated with organic and natural ingredients designed to treat and protect an array of skin types and conditions. Whilst much of our range is vegan and listed as such, we use both plant-based oils and grass-fed, organic tallow along with beeswax to promote healthy, glowing skin in some of our products. You can easily find our vegan range by using the drop down arrow and clicking on Vegan.
What is the shelf life of your organic skin care products?
At OmMade Organic Skincare, we do not use commercial preservatives in our organic and natural products. The lack of chemicals in our products will mean that the shelf life will be shorter depending upon the natural ingredients. The trick to getting a good shelf life without commercial ingredients in by not adding water to our creams and moisturisers. It's best to use our products within 6 months of opening and 12 months from purchase.
How can I get my skincare refilled?
Many of the liquid products can be refilled in our OmMade Meet the Maker stores. Simply bring in your empty containers and we refill them on the spot. Located in Westfield Marion, Tea Tree Plaza, West Lakes and Rundle Place.
What's the best product for acne?
You can't go past our Facial Cleansing Oil when it comes to problematic skin.
OmMade Facial Cleansing Oil is effective in healing dry and damaged skin. High in Vitamin E with antioxidant, antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
As a sufferer of adult acne well into my mid-thirties, I can tell you without a doubt that the facial cleansing oil method is a must for acne prone skin. It sounds counter-intuitive, oil to cleanse oily skin, but it works. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Like cures like”? It’s the basis for Homeopathy.

Which Moisturiser should I use?
OmMade has 3 beautiful natural options when it comes to natural moisturisers for the face. They are all full of nourishing ingredients which are rich in antioxidants, sun protective and have anti inflammatory properties.
A beautiful natural moisturiser full of oils that nourish the skin without leaving oily reside. Hemp Seed Face Serum is beneficial in reducing the size of pores, providing beneficial and protective nutrients to the skin, as well as reducing inflammation and redness. This natural face moisturiser is recommended for acne prone skin, damaged skin, eczema, and all skin types.
Similar to the Hemp Seed Face Serum however, this product has a shea butter base to allow it to be applied as a moisturiser rather than a serum. It has all the benefits of the Hemp Seed Face Serum with the extra benefits of Vitamin A & E in Shea Butter. These vitamins help in preventing skin ageing, damage and reducing inflammation. It may also help with the treatment of stretch marks, burns, cracked skin and rashes.
Like the two Hemp Seed Moisturiser, Kakadu Plumb contains nourishing oils. It also contains Kakadu Plumb, a food source that has the highest content of Vitamin C on the planet. The Kakadu Plumb Face Moisturiser also contains Organic Grass Fed Tallow which is rich in the same kinds of fatty acids that are found in our own skin. What is Tallow?
Organic, Grass-fed tallow is rich in the same kinds of fatty acids that are found in our own skin. This means it is easily absorbed into the skin which improves the structure and appearance. Organic, grass fed tallow contains fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, E & K and Vitamin B12.
Tallow is the rendered down beef fat from around the kidneys known as suet. I source my suet from Carnivore in Mt Torrens and render the tallow by hand it in our home. Carnivore are a local, small producer of organic and grass fed beef. Suet would normally go to landfill. Such a waste!
Tallow is obviously not for vegans and is clearly labelled to prevent any confusion. Learn about the amazing benefits of organic, grass-fed tallow for skin here.
